We value the knowledge you have of your pet’s health and lifestyle. If your pet requires surgery, we will listen to your input and make sure that you understand all available options before proceeding on a course of treatment that you determine will be best for your companion’s health.
White Oaks West’s veterinarians utilize a state-of-the-art surgical suite to perform a wide variety of procedures. Prior to surgery, we conduct a blood screening and other tests in order to determine whether the patient is a good candidate for anesthesia. We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of protection, especially for our older or high risk patients. The patient’s vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, temperature, oxygen saturation) are checked regularly during anesthesia with advanced digital monitoring equipment. Fluid therapy is administered to aid in flushing the patient's system of residual anesthetic and to keep the patient hydrated. All patients recover in a supervised environment, where they are kept safe and comfortable. Following recovery, our veterinarians design a pain management plan that best fits the patient's post-operative needs.
