Senior Cat Care in Springfield IL

Is your cat a "senior"?

As most people know, our cats age faster than we do. A 10 year old cat is the equivalent of about 57 human years and each cat year thereafter is equal to 4 to 5 human years. Because cats age faster, their health problems can develop and progress faster. Specialized senior care exams focus on evaluating any subtle changes your cat may be experiencing due to early health issues. Working together, we can help keep your cat healthy longer and assist your cat to age as gracefully as possible. We love your aging companions and want their senior years to be as healthy and happy as possible

There are symptoms common to senior pets that should be discussed with us at your cat's wellness exam, including:

  • An increase or decrease in your cat's appetite
  • Any discharge or odor from your cat's mouth
  • Changes in your pet's weight
  • Changes in jumping behaviors, walking, standing up or walking up/down stairs
  • Changes in or loss of hearing and/or eyesight
  • Any change in activity
  • Significant changes in bathroom behaviors
  • New or changing lumps and bumps
  • Changes in water consumption
